Journeys Counseling Center offers a state-of-the-art clinical training program for masters-level interns and associate-level therapists.

Our team is pleased to offer a robust clinical training program based on the developmental model of professional growth. With five AZBBHE-approved supervisors on site, including a clinical training director (Vanessa Van Dyke, MA, LPC) and another primary clinical supervisor (Stephanie Otte, MC, LPC), we are excited to offer a teaching/training program for early career therapists.

Over the last 15 years, we have collaborated and refined our training program, so that it includes a high level of supervision with an emphasis on skill building and person-of-the-therapist growth.

We offer numerous touchpoints with our diversely trained team, so that interns and associates gain exposure to a wide variety of theoretical orientations, feel supported and cared for in their early career, gain valuable technical skills, and develop their emotional and relational awareness.

As a team, Journeys seeks to decrease competition and isolation and increase collaboration, which we believe lays the foundation for a sustainable work-life balance. It also just makes our workplace a great place to be for everyone! Our training program emphasizes these values in addition to helping trainees develop clinical excellence.

We typically interview potential interns in January of each year for a May-June start date. Associate-level therapists and independently licensed therapists may inquire about availability through our client care coordinator.

With the cost of inflation and higher demand for mental health services, the cost of counseling has increased over the last several years. However, for many individuals, couples, and families, seeing interns and associates can be a great way to save some money while still receiving excellent care. Our interns and associates are highly supervised and mentored by seasoned clinicians with many years of experience.
