Hi! I’m Ben, an incoming Postdoctoral Psychology Resident with Journeys. Here’s a bit about me:
I earned my master’s degree in clinical psychology at George Fox University in 2023 and am currently in the process of completing my Doctor of Psychology degree (PsyD) through the same program. My clinical experience spans multiple community mental health and integrated care settings, where I’ve supported clients facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, complex trauma and PTSD, addictions, neurodiversity, intellectual and developmental challenges, aggression-related concerns, and severe and persistent mental illness.
My therapeutic approach is largely humanistic and trauma-informed, drawing on theoretical pillars like Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I have also received specialized training in trauma treatment and crisis consultation, with specific training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE).
I believe all of us are born with the inherent capacity to become our best and most genuine selves. Over time, societal pressures, relational wounds, and the unending expectations of our world compel us to “fit in,” leading us to abandon who we really are. In that process, we can become stuck, develop unhealthy patterns, or become ashamed of ourselves and resentful of others. As an emerging psychologist, I have faith in the power of genuine, supportive relationships to break this cycle. I enjoy working collaboratively with individuals, couples, families, and groups in their journey to dismantle who they “should be” and reclaim an authentic sense of self-worth. I’m excited to continue this life-giving work as a part of the Journeys community in August 2026!
