Licensed Professional Counselor and Independent Substance Abuse Counselor

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and certified EMDR therapist. I completed a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Trauma, Abuse, and Deprivation at Ottawa University and a Graduate Diploma in Christian Counseling at Phoenix Seminary.

In addition, I completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education in the Banner Health system, where I served as a Chaplain Intern providing spiritual care to patients and families in the midst of trauma, health crises, and death. My interest in pastoral care was stimulated by my own life experience of raising a son who developed physical and mental challenges following a health crisis when he was two years old.

I formerly worked as a trauma therapist at Calvary Addiction Recovery Center, where I saw individuals and their families whose lives have been devastated by addiction. In that environment, I was able to hone my skills as a certified EMDR therapist. My passion for EMDR therapy is fueled by my clients’ report of a reduction in disturbing symptoms associated with painful and traumatic experiences. I am also certified in Brainspotting, Level 1 trained in Internal Family Systems, and Level 2 trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.

I enjoy providing a nurturing presence, which helps facilitate a hopeful perspective of healing from the trauma, abuse, and unresolved grief that underlies many mental health issues. By offering a non-shaming environment to cry and laugh and express vulnerability, I hope to provide the safety needed to promote personal growth and healing.
