Renee is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and certified EMDR therapist. She completed a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Trauma, Abuse, and Deprivation at Ottawa University and a Graduate Diploma in Christian Counseling at Phoenix Seminary.
Renee completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education in the Banner Health system, where she served as a Chaplain Intern providing spiritual care to patients and families in the midst of trauma, health crises, and death. Renee’s interest in pastoral care was stimulated by her own life experience of raising a son who developed physical and mental challenges following a health crisis when he was two years old.
Renee formerly worked as a trauma therapist at Calvary Addiction Recovery Center, where she treated individuals and their families whose lives have been devastated by addiction. In that environment, she honed her skills as a certified EMDR therapist. Renee’s passion for EMDR therapy is fueled by her clients’ report of a reduction in disturbing symptoms associated with painful and traumatic experiences.
Renee’s nurturing presence facilitates her clients’ ability to experience a hopeful perspective of healing from the trauma, abuse, and unresolved grief that underlies many mental health issues. By offering a non-shaming environment to cry and laugh and express vulnerability, Renee creates the safety needed to promote personal growth and healing.
